Michael Neuvirth makes ridiculous glove save vs. Lightning (Video)

There are different ways to measure the spectacular nature of a goalie’s save.

Here’s a handy guide: If the light goes on and the horn goes off and the home fans leap out of their seats and the puck is actually in the visiting goalie’s glove … it’s quite a save.

Witness Michal Neuvirth of the Buffalo Sabres, stretching across his goal line to rob Brett Connolly on Friday night. Then he gets the cherry on the sundae: Connolly putting his head in his gloves, in utter disbelief.

Granted, had he been able to just get the puck a little further down his blade, it probably finds room around the glove.

But as it stands, it’s one of the greatest saves of the season.

And one of 45 saves that Neuvirth made against the Lightning on Friday night. Alas, it was in a losing effort, as the Bolts won, 2-1.
